Old Bridge Twp. Police Department is investigating a structure fire that occurred on West Greystone Rd. at approximately 11:21 am. The Police Department responded to calls of a loud explosion across from the Jonas Salk Middle School on West Greystone Rd. There were additional calls advising of smoke coming from the commercial building across the street from the middle school. The school was immediately “Sheltered in Place” due to the close proximity of the incident and the unknown nature. Arriving units advised of a working structure fire with possible entrapment. Additional Police, EMS, and Fire units responded from the surrounding towns of Spotswood, East Brunswick, Marlboro, and Monroe to assist with the incident and other incidents in town while Old Bridge units were on scene. There were multiple severe injuries reported to the extent that two medical helicopters were called in to assist with the transportation of the victims. This is an active and ongoing investigation, so the names of all parties involved are being withheld.
